Earlier this year, Public Works Director Rob Larson switched vendors for town trash bags
WHITEFIELD — Earlier this year, Public Works Director Rob Larson switched vendors for town trash bags. While the new bags were significantly lower cost, they also “sucked,” Larson admitted. The new bags were thinner, less durable, lower capacity, without drawstrings, and not pre-packaged for retail sale. Community members have grumbled about the inferior bags, and those complaints grew louder this week when a social media post asked, “What’s the story on the new Town bags? No pull string or twist ties to close. No more nice, tidy roll. I’d rather pay a few more bucks if that was the issue.”The post drew 60 replies. The Select Board took notice. On Monday, the board unanimously agreed to place an order for the old bags as soon as possible. Selectman Shawn White made the motion, saying the new bags were “woefully insufficient.”
