Another candidate has declared a Select Board opening

LANCASTER — Another candidate has declared a Select Board opening. Budget Committee Chair Kathy Jean Lavoie has submitted her name for consideration as an interim board member. She is the third person to apply for the position. The others are Budget Committee member Eric Becker and former Conservation Commissioner Rob Christie. Whoever is chosen will serve the remainder of former Chair Troy Merner’s three-year term, which ends in March. Merner resigned this week after an Attorney General’s Office investigation found he had illegally served as a board member and state representative after moving out of the district. The investigation was triggered by Lavoie, who filed a complaint in her capacity as an election worker.
