Kirby town select board is thinking it needs to update the dog ordinance

Recent dog-related complaints, the Kirby town select board is thinking it needs to update the dog ordinance in the near future. The last time the ordinance was updated was in the fall of 2000. Select Board Chair Keith Isham said the town is concerned about unlicensed dogs spreading rabies.,   Isham requested Kirby residents ‘ cooperation in vaccinating and licensing all dogs at property.  Dog issues came to light as a couple dogs were running loose bothering neighbors.  The town has since learned the owners have since been in with rabies certificates to license them. Hopefully there will be no more follow up needed, said town clerk Erin Patwin.
