A Select Board member has been targeted with homophobic, anti-Semitic, and misogynistic graffiti

FRANCONIA — A Select Board member has been targeted with homophobic, anti-Semitic, and misogynistic graffiti. Jill Brewer discovered the vandalism when she, her husband, and their three children were headed out to get breakfast on Sunday morning. The culprit, or culprits, smashed a mailbox and used red spray paint to (1) deface an LGBTQ+ “Everybody Belongs” lawn sign (2) draw a swastika on the front of the mailbox, and (3) write the words “fag” and “bitch” on the sides of the mailbox. Franconia Police are investigating the incident and have offered a cash reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible. It is unclear if it will be ruled a hate crime. Brewer said the episode is puzzling because neighboring properties, many with “Everybody Belongs” signs on display, were untouched. Police did not receive other reports of vandalism that night.
