Johnsbury water treatment plant at Stiles Pond in Waterford is under construction

Johnsbury water treatment plant at Stiles Pond in Waterford is under construction. The project is supposed to be completed in November of 2024. While the construction is going on, St. Johnsbury residents will still have access to water from the town. The project cost is over $10 million, but the town received a grant of 6.4 million dollars. Penta Corporation of Moultonborough, New Hampshire, is the new water facility construction company. The upgrade and the new building will also include a new filtration system, the first built in Vermont. It’s called “membrane” filtration. The town ran a six-month test of the membrane filter system, and after the test was completed, the State of Vermont approved the use of the new system.
