A southern New Hampshire-based man with a criminal history stretching back decades was arrested in Littleton

A southern New Hampshire-based man with a criminal history stretching back decades was arrested in Littleton this week on charges of sexually assaulting a woman at gunpoint in Manchester. Police suspect similar crimes might have occurred and are asking the public to reach out if they know anything. The case in question against Jimmie Lee Carlton, 57, who had most recently been living in Littleton, stems from an investigation in Manchester that began two years ago, in November 2021. At Hillsborough North Superior Court, Carlton is charged with a special class felony count of aggravated felonious sexual assault using force and violence and a special class felony count of criminal threatening with a firearm. He was arrested on Wednesday by Littleton police, the Manchester Police Anti-Crime Unit, and New Hampshire State Probation and Parole. Carlton, who is currently being held without bail because of a parole violation for a robbery conviction, was arraigned on Thursday. A dispositional conference is scheduled for Jan. 8.
