Work at Northern Forest Center’s new Railroad Street apartment building is winding down

ST. JOHNSBURY — Work at Northern Forest Center’s new Railroad Street apartment building is winding down, and occupancy is expected in April. The project to acquire and transform the town’s original armory building at 560 Railroad St. into nine market-rate apartments and two commercial spaces comes at the cost of $5.9 million and helps to address a significant housing deficiency in town, said Evan Oleson, project manager for the new Northern Forest Center apartment building The building includes nine apartments on three levels. Each has been rebuilt from the studs out, with new heating, plumbing, wiring, and interior construction.
