Passengers on the Peabody Express Quad at Cannon Mountain were evacuated
FRANCONIA, N.H. — Passengers on the Peabody Express Quad at Cannon Mountain were evacuated Wednesday morning after a mechanical issue forced the ski area to shut down the lift. No injuries were reported. The New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Passenger Tramway Safety Board confirmed that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the malfunction. A representative from the ski area notified officials around 11 a.m., prompting a response from a state tramway inspector. As the investigation continues, the lift will remain closed. The incident comes just days after a chair detached from the Flying Bear lift at Attitash Mountain Resort in Bartlett, falling approximately 20 feet to the ground.
