Vermont State Police say a local man was hit by a train

Vermont State Police say a local man was hit by a train and airlifted for extensive injuries. Det. Sgt. Lyle Decker reports that Dillan Prue, 27, of Newport Town, was sitting on the railroad tracks near Hill Street in North Troy on Wednesday morning when he was hit. He was alive when taken to the University of Vermont Medical Center by helicopter. Police say Prue didn’t move when train personnel repeatedly blew their horn. The train engineer applied the emergency brakes upon seeing Prue on the tracks, but the train could not stop before hitting Prue. The investigation is ongoing but reveals no early sign of foul play.
