Vermont State Police identified the victim of Monday morning’s shooting in Wheelock as Gunnar Watson, 27, who lived the home on Vermont Route 16 where the shooting occurred. An autopsy was completed Tuesday. The Chief Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of his death was a gunshot wound to the torso, and the manner of death was a homicide. Watson’s death was the third fatal shooting in Vermont in 11 days. Investigations are ongoing in homicides in Castleton, Newport and now Wheelock. The state police investigation is active and ongoing.
