Several businesses across the Northeast Kingdom and North Country have received federal grants to help fund energy efficiency and renewable generation projects through USDA and the Rural Energy for American Program. The local grants were part of a $5 billion investment in rural communities nationwide that included $25 million between Vermont and New Hampshire announced by USDA on Wednesday. “To the business owners, farmers and producers who invested in their futures, and ours, with renewable-energy and energy-efficiency projects, we applaud your sustainable, climate-smart approach to growing your operations,” said Sarah Waring, State Director of USDA Rural Development in Vermont and New Hampshire.
