Police tracked down a man accused of causing a two-vehicle crash

ST. JOHNSBURY — Police tracked down a man accused of causing a two-vehicle crash on Main Street next to Arnold Park after he left his crashed Jeep Compass in the park and walked off. Scott Mason was in custody within 30 minutes of the crash. He is accused of steering into the opposite lane on Main Street and into the path of a Chevrolet Trax driven by Ariana Rodger, 42, of Island Pond. Witnesses at the scene said Mason claimed he couldn’t see the Trax coming his way. Other than scrapes to Rodger’s arm, no injuries were reported. There were three children in her car. Mason was the only person in the Jeep. Both vehicles sustained significant damage.
