Man from Thetford died in Levi Pond in Groton on Sunday night

Vermont State Police reported that a man from Thetford died in Levi Pond in Groton on Sunday night. Kristopher Perkins, 32, was in a small boat on the pond with his uncle, Tim Perkins, 57, and 9-year-old child late on Sunday. The boat overturned and the occupants went into the water. Only Tim Perkins and the child returned to shore. State police reported that it appears the boat overturned when two occupants tried to swap places in the boat. The occupants were not wearing life vests. On Monday, members of the Vermont State Police Underwater Recovery Team located his body at 11 a.m. after about two hours of search. The body was found in the water in about 6 feet of water about 50 feet from shore. Detective Trooper Mark Pohlman noted that the death does not appear to be suspicious.
