Lisbon Regional School District Withdrawal from SAU 35 Finalized Effective July 2026
LISBON — Lisbon Regional School District’s withdrawal from School Administrative Unit (SAU) 35 was finalized earlier this month and will take effect July 1, 2026.The New Hampshire Board of Education accepted the move by unanimous vote on April 8. The matter was handled in 55 seconds, without discussion. Once Lisbon departs, the remaining SAU 35 districts — Bethlehem, Landaff, Lafayette Regional, and Profile — will shoulder a larger share of central administrative costs. Lisbon School Board Chair Arthur Boutin previously said the decision brings greater local control. The move followed a year-long study. A withdrawal committee formed last spring concluded that, while financial savings may not be immediate, services would better meet Lisbon’s needs under an independent structure.
