For 2024, following a rabies case found June 27 in Littleton
For 2024, following a rabies case found June 27 in Littleton, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Rabies Management Program has expanded its aerial drop zone for oral rabies vaccines, which it has administered each August in northern New Hampshire since 2001. The expanded zone, where aerial drops of thousands of vaccines were completed several days ago, encompasses all or some of the towns of Lancaster, Jefferson, Dalton, Whitefield, Littleton, Bethlehem, Franconia, Easton, Landaff, Bath, Lyman, and Monroe. The Littleton fox, which was collected by a New Hampshire Fish and Game Conservation officer, was the only known case north of the Notch in 2024 and the first case in the area in at least several years.
