Five homicides in three weeks and one suspicious death in Orange County

Five homicides in three weeks and one suspicious death in Orange County. Castleton, Newport, Wheelock, Washington and two Massachusetts residents found dead in Eden. There haven’t been any arrests so far, but Vermont State Police (VSP) detectives are making progress to figure it all out. More than a dozen detectives from VSP’s Major Crime Unit and Bureau of Criminal Investigations have been working on the Wheelock case. The numbers vary from day to day depending on activity in the other active homicide investigations statewide. On Oct. 25, in the town of Washington, a woman in her 20s was found dead by hunters in the woods along Poor Farm Road. Vermont State Police consider it to be a “suspicious death.” State police have now identified the deceased woman as Tanairy “Tanya” Velazquez Estrada, 23, who lived most recently in Barre. VSP continues to ask that anyone with information about the Wheelock homicide or any other homicide to contact the St. Johnsbury Barracks at 802-748-3111 or submit an anonymous tip online at https://vsp.vermont.gov/tipsubmit.
