Barnet Man Charged After Striking Two People with Truck in Domestic Incident
BARNET — A Barnet man is facing multiple charges after Vermont State Police say he struck two people with a truck during a domestic incident late Thursday night. Troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks responded to a report of an assault involving a motor vehicle on Anderson Street in Barnet at approximately 11:17 p.m. on June 5. When they arrived, they found two individuals with visible injuries who reported being hit by a truck driven by Andrew Baird, 25, of Barnet. Police said both victims sustained minor injuries and declined medical treatment. Following an investigation, authorities say that Baird had violated two sets of conditions of release, operated a vehicle while his license was criminally suspended, and used the truck as a weapon in an aggravated domestic assault against two family members. Baird appeared in Caledonia County Court at 12:30 p.m. Friday to face charges of first-degree aggravated domestic assault with a weapon, two counts of violating conditions of release, and criminal driving with a suspended license.
