At least a dozen residents are homeless after a multi-unit apartment building fire

HARDWICK — At least a dozen residents are homeless after a multi-unit apartment building fire. Area departments were summoned to 170 School St. in Hardwick at around 12:45 p.m. Thursday. The quick-moving fire spread to an attached second building, officials said. Multiple families reportedly lost their homes and possessions. Online fundraisers have been started on GoFundMe.com and Neighbors In Action has put out a call for donations to assist the families. Hardwick Fire was assisted by Cabot, Craftsbury, Danville, Elmore, Glover, Greensboro, Morrisville, Sheffield-Wheelock, Walden and Woodbury Fire. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
