A South Wheelock Road home was badly damaged

LYNDON — A South Wheelock Road home was badly damaged and an occupant hurt from a fire that began in the kitchen on Tuesday night. Lise Bennett was being treated in a Boston hospital for smoke inhalation and burns, her husband, Michael, said on Wednesday afternoon. Michael was at work in the Industrial Park when the fire began. Lyndonville firefighters were alerted to the house fire at 10:40 p.m. on Tuesday. The fire’s origin was found to be the kitchen, but how it started is undetermined at this time, Asst. Chief McLaughlin said. The investigators did decide that there is no reason to believe it started through suspicious circumstances.
