A snowmobiler was airlifted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center
GROTON — A snowmobiler was airlifted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in critical condition on Saturday, the result of a December 16 snowmobile crash on the VAST trail in Groton. Travis Laraway, 30, of Topsham was thrown from his snowmobile at approximately 1:22 p.m. after losing control of his 2019 Polaris Axys while riding near the Kettle Pond parking area. Initial scanner reports said Laraway was “unconscious but breathing” shortly after. The operator was being assisted by EMS personnel when VSP got to the scene. Route 232 in the Marshfield-Groton area was the nearest access point to the crash, according to the police report. The snowmobile was declared a total loss. The crash remains under active investigation. State Police were assisted on the scene by Danville Fire & Rescue, Cabot Volunteer Fire Dept., Peacham Volunteer Fire Dept., Groton Ryegate Fast Squad, CALEX Ambulance Service, Woodsville Ambulance, Plainfield Rescue and Dartmouth Hitchcock Advanced Response Team. Caledonia Wrecker Service removed the snowmobile from the trail.
