A man who was charged in 2022 with lewd and lascivious conduct with a 15-year-old girl was given a deferred sentence

A man who was charged in 2022 with felony aggravated sexual assault and lewd & lascivious conduct with a 15-year-old girl was given a deferred sentence. The state dismissed the lewd & lascivious change and amended the sexual assault charge to aggravated domestic assault. Robert Thomas Mason, 26, from Delaware, pleaded guilty to the amended charge and is now on probation with St. Johnsbury Probation & Parole. Mason will also undergo substance abuse, mental health, domestic violence and counseling requirements. A deferred sentence must complete all the probation conditions after three years. If Mason completes the conditions, then he will have no convictions. Mason was accused of choking and sexually assaulting a teenage girl in the parking lot behind the Lyndon Municipal Building.
