A local man allegedly killed two people
A local man allegedly killed two people in Orleans with a bat and knife. Cirell M. Brown, 23, of 25 Church Street in Orleans, pleaded not guilty to two counts of felony second-degree murder and a felony charge of burglary into an occupied dwelling. Defense Attorney Lydia V. Newcomb asked the court for a psychiatric evaluation. State’s Attorney Farzana Leyva asked the court to hold Brown without bail. Judge Rory T. Thibault decided to hold Brown without bail and to have an inpatient evaluation. The alleged incident occurred on Tuesday, March 12, at approximately 5:08 p.m. Autopsies are expected at the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington to confirm identities and also determine the cause and manner of their deaths.
