The White Mountains Regional School District has delayed plans for middle school consolidation
WHITEFIELD — The White Mountains Regional School District has delayed plans for middle school consolidation. The school board on Nov. 16 accepted the recommendation of the Grade 7/8 Advisory Committee to postpone consideration of middle school consolidation until at least the 2026-27 school year. The recommendation comes after a community survey showed a lack of support for the idea. The proposal on the table called for all seventh and eighth grade students to attend classes at Lancaster Elementary beginning in the fall of 2024. Families living at the other end of the five-town school district objected due to concerns over transportation and lengthy bus trips. The community survey showed more support for middle school consolidation at the centrally located high school building.
