A former guard at the Northeast Correctional Complex pleaded guilty
ST. JOHNSBURY — A former guard at the Northeast Correctional Complex pleaded guilty to possession of child sex abuse materials and was sentenced to go to jail on the weekends. Benjamin G. Mallery, 32, was sentenced on one of six criminal counts during a Caledonia Superior Court hearing on Monday. Through the pre-trial resolution, he agreed to plead guilty in exchange for a jail sentence of 18 months to 5 years, suspended except for 60 days, which he will serve on consecutive weekends. The prosecution agreed to dismiss the remaining five charges against Mallery. The deal was negotiated between Mallery’s attorney, David Sleigh, and Franklin Paulino, from the Vermont Attorney General’s Office.
