The town of St. Johnsbury will add to its rail trail project
The town of St. Johnsbury will add to its rail trail project by extending the path along the Passumpsic River near the Ralston-Purina building. At the Lamoille Valley Trailhead on Main Street, the town has already developed a new trail off Bay Street that would take recreation users along the Passumpsic River. The trail would then lead to the rail trail Pavilion built on Bay Street. Users could then cross through the “Honking Tunnel” and end up near the St. Johnsbury Welcome Center and downtown St. Johnsbury. The new 1.7 million dollar trail extension includes an additional 2,800 linear feet of cross-country trail along the Passumpsic River, connecting St Johnsbury’s Downtown to the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail.
