A neighbor of the Subway restaurant on Federal Street helped police identify a man accused of stealing a purse
ST. JOHNSBURY — A neighbor of the Subway restaurant on Federal Street helped police identify a man accused of stealing a purse from a vehicle parked there. Benjamin T. Heath, 33, of St. Johnsbury, allegedly entered the car at lunchtime on Thursday and took the purse, reported Det. Sgt. Lester Cleary. Det. Sgt. Cleary stated that a neighbor saw the crime and took photos of the suspect, which were shared with police. About 45 minutes later, police found the man in the image and confirmed it was Heath. According to Det. Sgt. Cleary, Heath did not accept his capture willingly and instead allegedly resisted arrest. Heath is facing charges of larceny from a vehicle and resisting arrest. He was cited to appear in Caledonia Superior Court on Nov. 13.
