Vermont officials are still hoping to hear from hundreds of Vermonters that reported their furnace was damaged during July’s flooding. During the state’s media briefing Wednesday, Gov. Phil Scott said they had received responses from about a third of the more than 1,000 email surveys they sent last week to people who had reported damage to their heating system with either FEMA or 211. Scott urged people to complete the short survey so the state could determine what level of support might be needed and how best to help. Later this week, the state will begin calling people who have not completed the survey, noted Scott. Efficiency Vermont Managing Director Peter Walke also participated in the conference to explain the variety of programs, both for flood victims and Vermonters in general, that are available to help with home improvements. The state provided $10 million in repurposed ARPA funding to Efficiency Vermont to implement a program to assist flood victims.
