Brush Fires Sparked by Vehicle Blaze Spread Along I 93 in Littleton Prompting Major Response

LITTLETON — A reported vehicle fire on Interstate 93 late Friday night ignited multiple brush fires that spread along the highway, prompting a major response from local fire departments. At around 8:29 p.m., the Littleton Fire and Police Departments were dispatched to a report of a southbound truck with flames visible underneath between Exits 42 and 41. Upon arrival, authorities found no vehicle but discovered several fast-moving grass fires stretching over a quarter mile. Firefighters initiated suppression efforts as one fire threatened dense pine trees. The situation escalated quickly and an additional units were summoned, with some responding to the Industrial Park located next to the highway, where the fire was spreading into heavy brush. The Bethlehem and Lisbon Fire Departments provided back-up by staging at Littleton Fire Station.
