Friends of Remich Park (FoRP) is establishing a similar contest
LITTLETON — Inspired by the decades-strong Joe’s Pond ice-out contest in West Danville, Friends of Remich Park (FoRP) is establishing a similar contest at Dells Pond in Littleton. FoRP members met with the Littleton Select Board during a board work session on Monday when the board unanimously approved the request for the ice-out, which will begin in earnest in 2025. In West Danville, half the proceeds go to the winner(s) who makes the best guess as to when the wooden pallet, concrete block and marker will sink through the thawing ice, and the remaining half goes to the Joe’s Pond Association for events and water quality. In Littleton, half the proceeds will also go to the winner, while the other half will support Littleton Parks and Recreation programming.
