The Planning Commission will look at short-term rentals
LYNDON — The Planning Commission will look at short-term rentals. By a 5-0 vote on Wednesday, the commission agreed to study STRs to determine if regulations are needed. According to a recent housing study by non-profit Rural Edge, short-term rentals are a growing presence in the regional housing market. Calls for Lyndon to create STR regulations have grown louder as a growing number of surrounding communities discuss, propose and implement STR rules of their own. STR regulations have already been approved in Kirby and Waterford, and are being drafted in Burke. New Hampshire and Vermont property owners have increasingly converted homes, apartments and condos into lucrative STRs, defined as rentals available for 30 days or less.
