Wheelock Moves Ahead With $87,300 Boulay Road Embankment Repair

WHEELOCK — Wheelock will move ahead with an $87,300 repair to the Boulay Road embankment after the Federal Emergency Management Agency preliminarily approved revised project plans. The Select Board voted Oct. 20 to proceed with Northwoods Excavating Inc. of Thetford, which has a fully executed contract and still has time to complete the work this season. Board Chair Ann Lawless said the contractor was surprised by the earlier delay. The town’s contracted project manager, GEODesign Inc., is finalizing details. A river engineer is also involved in the project’s schedule changes. Boulay Road serves one household. The board put the work on hold in September while waiting for FEMA to respond to a request to revise the project’s scope of work to account for higher costs.
