Water Line Break on Crow Hill in St Johnsbury Causes 25 Hour Outage for Neighborhood Due to Utility Work

A broken water service line on Crow Hill in St. Johnsbury required the water main serving Mt. Vernon Street and Crow Hill Road to be briefly shut off Wednesday afternoon. The Town announced that the water would be shut off shortly after 2 p.m., and members of the Public Works Department were on site to close the water main valve. According to Town Manager Chad Whitehead, the break involved a service line to a house but in order to complete the repair the entire neighborhood had to be shut off. Whitehead said work being done by Green Mountain Power in the area damaged the water line. Site work was underway near the rail trail bridge at the time. Service was disrupted for about 2.5 hours
