The Select Board on Nov. 20 discussed efforts to repair and protect the Mt Orne Covered Bridge
LANCASTER — The Select Board on Nov. 20 discussed efforts to repair and protect the Mt Orne Covered Bridge. The cross-border bridge that connects Lancaster and Lunenburg, Vt., remains closed to traffic after it was struck and damaged by an oversized vehicle on Nov. 10. The vehicle responsible has not been identified. Bridge repair work is expected to begin in late December, and cross-state traffic will be detoured to the Lancaster-Guildhall crossing (5 miles north) and Dalton-Gilman crossing (5.5 miles south) until the Mt. Orne is fixed, according to Town Manager Ben Gaetjens-Oleson. Motorists are asked to plan accordingly.
