St. Johnsbury Police found a man dead in a Summer Street residence

St. Johnsbury Police found a man dead in a Summer Street residence on Monday night after responding there to a report of a shooting. The investigation began about 11:15 p.m. Monday when police received a 911 call about a shooting on Summer Street. The police department responded to 340 Summer St. where the man was found deceased. The PD requested that the Vermont State Police respond and lead the investigation. A state police spokesman reported that the initial investigation indicates this was an isolated event and there’s no general threat to the community. State police say they don’t know the victim’s identity at this time. His body is being taken to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death and help with positive identification. Police will release the name of the victim following further investigation and notification of relatives. No one is in custody.
