LYNDON — The Select Board on Monday got a glimpse of the future. Maybe. Alex Belensz of SE Group presented a concept design for downtown redevelopment. The draft document provides a comprehensive list of options to improve Depot Street, from minor fixes to full reconstruction. The overall goal is to transform the Route 5 corridor from a drive-through to a destination. The concept design was created through the grant-funded Revamp The Ville imitative. Using the concept design, Revamp The Ville will publish a downtown master plan, due later this year. During a 45-minute presentation of the concept design, Belensz outlined full recommendations for a complete rebuild of the Route 5 corridor. Those changes are intended to slow traffic, enhance pedestrian, cyclist and traffic safety, and make the downtown more welcoming to people.
