St. Johnsbury Police caught up on foot with a fleeing suspect during a November 11 arrest on Bay Street. Albert Vieira, 30, of St. Johnsbury, was taken into custody at approximately 10:36 a.m. There was an active warrant out for him. St. Johnsbury Police Cpl. George Johnson, on patrol with Deputy Deos, drove up to the pavilion on Bay Street, and upon being asked his name, he ran. Deputy Deos chased him, and Cpl Johnson drove ahead of him to cut him off. After a short struggle, the deputy took Albert into custody. Police say they found 80 baggies, which later field-tested positive as fentanyl on Veira. He was taken into custody and lodged on his warrant and cited for new charges, fentanyl trafficking. He’ll be in Court on January 22, 2024.
