Six months after the floods from Hurricane Beryl battered the Northeast Kingdom

Six months after the floods from Hurricane Beryl battered the Northeast Kingdom, some towns that were hit the hardest are still dealing with the damage and cleanup. On Monday, the Barnet Select board approved a bid for $131,181 to address and repair the damage at Harvey’s Lake Beach, a popular recreation area that has been closed since the July floods. Harvey’s Lake Beach Committee members say the work will begin at Roy Mountain Road. It will entail a resurfacing of the entire parking lot, the removal of silt and debris, and a reseeding of topsoil. The goal is to reopen the beach for the summer of 2025.
