Rescuers responding to drug overdoses at two residences

ST. JOHNSBURY — Rescuers responding to drug overdoses at two residences in five hours on Saturday revived two people, but a third could not be saved. A 44-year-old woman died at a residence on Fourth Street at about 5:30 p.m. Five hours later, emergency medical service personnel from CALEX rushed to an apartment at 1230 Main St. for a report of two people unconscious and not breathing. A 36-year-old woman was revived quickly following the administration of the fentanyl overdose-counteracting drug Narcan. A 42-year-old man in the same apartment went into cardiac arrest and required extensive life-saving measures. The man was taken to Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital and then was flown to Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, N.H.
