NH Approves Funding for North Country Projects Including Housing School Upgrades and DCI Energy Grant Extension
New Hampshire Governor and Council last week approved or extended funding for a number of North Country projects, among them affordable housing, energy efficiency for schools and a business, Cannon Mountain Ski Area improvements, a new roof for a Fish and Game building, and drinking water protection. Reports were also delivered about the status of the easement for the Connecticut Lakes Headwaters Working Forest and the 2025 plans for Cannon Mountain and Franconia Notch State Park. A $500,000 New Hampshire Department of Energy grant was extended to a new deadline of Dec. 31 for DCI, the furniture manufacturer in Lisbon that represents one of the larger businesses in the area. Planned is a new wood residue-fueled steam boiler plant that will provide 100 percent of DCI’s thermal energy needs in the form of process heat to kilns for drying lumber and firewood, as well as space heating to its plant.
