Vermont State Police reported on Monday that a man shot at his Hardwick residence in Hardwick last week succumbed to his injuries at the hospital over the weekend. Robert Marquis, 52, had been at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington since Wednesday, which was the day he was reportedly shot at 76 Elm St. He remained in critical condition until his death from a gunshot wound to his head. He was an organ donor, noted the state police report. Police identified the suspect in the shooting as Donald Brochu Jr., 55, who reportedly committed suicide by gunshot shortly after Marquis was shot. Brochu had been renting a room in Marguis’ home.
