Lyndon and Hardwick Awarded 200000 Each in Vermont Downtown Transportation Fund for Safety Projects
Governor Phil Scott and the Department of Housing and Community Development announced the Vermont Downtown Transportation Fund awards recipients on Friday. This year, the Community Investment Board chose eight Designated Downtowns and Village Centers to share $1,452,405 in funding, including Lyndon and Hardwick. In Lyndon, a Pedestrian Safety Improvement Project was granted $200,000 to install four raised crosswalks with curb extensions and four light posts at each crosswalk, upgrading 10 existing light posts. The town of Hardwick also received a $200,000 grant for its Pedestrian Bridge Replacement Project. This project involves demolishing and replacing the unsafe, currently closed pedestrian bridge with a new ADA-compliant one.
