Decision-makers with the Northeast Kingdom Fund are granting more money to more organizations this year
Decision-makers with the Northeast Kingdom Fund are granting more money to more organizations this year than last as they seek to boost local efforts to support youth outreach around the arts, education and the outdoors. A total of $119,942 is going to 27 organizations, representing nonprofits and municipalities in Caledonia, Essex, and Orleans counties. Last year, the Fund, supported 24 NEK initiatives. The Northeast Kingdom Fund was established in 2011 by the Community Foundation and local partners as a permanent philanthropic resource to support the people and communities in the region. The Fund prioritizes applications from projects and organizations that are based in the Northeast Kingdom and provide services directly to the community. The funding decisions are made by a committee of residents living and working in the Northeast Kingdom who review all proposals.
