Dalton Voters to Decide on Proposed Zoning at September Special Town Meeting
After a presentation to the planning board in early August, a proposal to implement zoning in Dalton will now go to a special town meeting vote, currently scheduled for September. During a Dalton Select Board work session on Monday, board members scheduled the vote for 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24 and the public hearing that will precede it for 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19. The alternate dates are 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16 for the public hearing and 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22 for the vote. It’s the first step toward a proposed permanent zoning ordinance, which would go to a regular town meeting vote in the future. If voters ultimately approve it, the ordinance would be a first for Dalton.
