Caledonia Food Co-op board members have announced a new fundraising goal
ST. JOHNSBURY — Caledonia Food Co-op board members have announced a new fundraising goal to enable the purchase of the former Walgreens property on Railroad Street. The Co-op successfully raised $350,000 in donations and pledges in a short period last summer toward the property purchase and is now seeking $750,000 by March 15 to fulfill the finance package and purchase the building by April 1. It was announced last summer that the total purchase price sought by the current owner, R&R Vermont Management LLC, is $2.2 million. The building has been vacant since Walgreens closed business there in late February 2023. Walgreens was the third pharmacy tenant to occupy the building. Rite Aid and Brooks Pharmacy preceded Walgreens.
