Cabot Voters to Decide on Closing High School and Adopting School Choice

CABOT — Voters will decide in early January whether to close Cabot School’s high school at the end of this school year and adopt school choice for the 27-28 school year, after months of discussion about declining enrollment, rising costs and limited opportunities for students. The Cabot School Board agreed this week to hold the special vote after learning that an accelerated merger with the neighboring Danville School District is not legally available. The board expects to consider ballot language at its Oct. 26 meeting and must warn the special election by late November.
