As the town prepares to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the covered footbridge
LITTLETON — As the town prepares to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the covered footbridge in August, taggers this week sprayed paint on the bridge, which spans the Ammonoosuc River between Mill Street and the senior center, in the heart of the river district The two locations vandalized with black paint were on the south side, on the walkway under the cover and on a decorative stone abutment, the latter of which reads “cool stuff.” As of Friday, no suspects had been announced, and it was undetermined exactly when the crime occurred. Littleton Police Chief Paul Smith could not be reached for comment by press time Friday, but Littleton police did issue a public message and are seeking help from community members. The latest incident comes after an uptick of tagging in 2023 around downtown and the river district.
