An illegal immigrant from Mexico was ordered held Tuesday without bail
BURLINGTON — An illegal immigrant from Mexico, who got into a fight with a U.S. Border Patrol Agent in North Troy over the weekend, was ordered held Tuesday without bail on federal felony charges. The U.S. Border Patrol charged Ciro Temich-Ramirez, 35, in a criminal complaint with unlawful possession of a loaded shotgun and being unlawfully in the United States, court records show. Temich-Ramirez appeared briefly in U.S. District Court in Burlington on Tuesday afternoon, and the defense did not object to a request that he be detained as a risk to flee and a danger to the community. Magistrate Judge Kevin Doyle told Temich-Ramirez that he is entitled to a probable cause hearing on Oct. 16 unless a federal grand jury returns an indictment in the interim. Temich-Ramirez got into the fight with a Border Patrol agent when confronted in North Troy less than a mile south of the international border on Saturday, court records show. He admitted he has been unlawfully in the United States for about 20 years and had illegally crossed in from Mexico, records show.
