Affordable Housing, Education and Development (AHEAD) Inc. has received a $500,000

WHITEFIELD — Affordable Housing, Education and Development (AHEAD) Inc. has received a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant. The funding will support purchasing and renovating a downtown building to create four rental housing units. Located at 12 King Sq., the project aims to transform the second and third floors into residential units, with three units designated for low- to moderate-income residents. This initiative seeks to alleviate the housing shortage in the area. The ground floor will remain a commercial space, and the exterior of the building will undergo a complete renovation. The building at the intersection of Route 3 and 116 has fallen into disrepair. The estimated cost for the renovations is $2.3 million.
