A North Country felon charged in October for shooting a man in the leg

A North Country felon charged in October for shooting a man in the leg in Landaff will plead self-defense, according to recent court documents. In December, Richard R. Knight, 56, was indicted by a Grafton Superior Court grand jury on a special class felony count of second-degree assault with a deadly weapon, a Class B felony count of reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, and a Class B felony count of being a felon in unlawful possession of a gun following a 1994 burglary conviction at Grafton Superior Court that prohibited him from possessing firearms. Knight recklessly caused bodily injury to Christopher Way, 31, when he fired a round from a Sig Sauer handgun into Way’s leg, said prosecutors.
