A fishing trip ended in tragedy on Friday morning
PIERMONT, N.H. – A fishing trip ended in tragedy on Friday morning. Michael A. Johnson, 58, of Bedford died after falling into the water on Lake Tarleton. According to New Hampshire State Police, Johnson and another man were fishing on the lake when their canoe capsized. While both had life vests in the canoe, neither was wearing one at the time of the accident. “While attempting to remain afloat and recover their gear, [the other man] noticed [Johnson] was face down in the water,” NHSP said. Responding to calls for help, an unknown number of people located nearby arrived by boat to assist. Life-saving measures to revive Johnson were attempted but were unsuccessful.
